BMSF supported multinational lung cancer diagnosis and control project in Ethiopia has officially launched in collaborations with Ministry of health, Oromia, Addis Ababa, Amhara and Afar regional health bureaus and different local and international NGOs including, MWECS, CUAAM, ETS, MJDA and AMREF on August at Elilly International Hotel.  The event opened by the Executive Director of Mathiwos Wondu – Ye Ethiopia Cancer Society Mr. Wondu Bekele, and he remarked the launching as a wonderful achievement as a nation regarding the lung cancer diagnosis and controlling project here in Ethiopia. This new and the first phase project for lung cancer diagnosis and prevention is believed to be very successful in the coming three operational years, because most of the implementing partners and collaborators have been working for different related projects and have plenty of work experiences. The project will be led by Mathiwos Wondu – Ye Ethiopia Cancer Society and last for the coming three consecutive years from June 2020 to May 2023 as mentioned by Mr. Zelalem who is the Project Manager.

 This new Project financed by BMSF and implemented in collaboration with Federal Health Ministry of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, Oromia, Amhara and Afar regional health Bureaus. The lung cancer diagnosis and controlling project implementation and operations will bring the most fruitful outcomes if the partners and the implementers work harder together to fight it in the grassroot level. In order to achieve the project in a progressive manner, all the participants should act to the utmost sense of responsibility and accountability in each step of the implementation period, said one of the experts on the event.

Guests and delegates from implementing partners and governmental offices raised some important questions on challenges that might the project will face during the implementations period. Regarding the questions, some experts and educated professionals gave the answer to the whole participants. Finally, all implementers and partners took oath on the successful implementation of project and the event finalized.
