Experience Sharing Visit on PEN-Plus Implimentation from the Somaliland

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting a team from the Somaliland, led by the Somaliland Ministry of Health, NCD Coordinator and the Somalilander American Health Association (SAHA). The delegation team included care providers from Buroa General Hospital and Gabiley General Hospital, who are working to decentralise severe chronic NCD services and currently joining the NCDI Poverty Network to implement PEN-Plus.

Their experience sharing visit to the Mathiwos Wondu Foundation (MWF) and the Muke Turi Primary Hospital PEN-Plus Clinic provided a valuable bilateral learning opportunity. Together, we exchanged insights on PEN-Plus service organisation, severe NCDs case detection and management, programmatic standards, data systems, and strategies to strengthen quality care for severe NCDs at the primary hospital level through PEN-Plus implimentation.

This engagement was not only an opportunity to showcase our ongoing work but also a meaningful moment to learn from Somaliland’s efforts, innovations, and strong commitment to improving access to care for underserved populations.
