The Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority (EFDA) held a recognition and appreciation ceremony on 24 August 2026 at the Marriott Executive Apartments, Addis Ababa, to celebrate a historic milestone in tobacco control financing. For the first time, the Federal Government of Ethiopia has established a dedicated recurrent budget code for tobacco control “Strengthening the Tobacco Control System” (Budget Code 10911017).
The ceremony recognized and appreciated the valuable contributions of government institutions, development partners, and civil society organizations whose collective efforts and commitment helped make this landmark achievement possible.
