Mr. Wondu Bekele , Chief Executive Director of MWECS actively participated in the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer/ IASLC/ 2025, Pan-Africa Conference on Lung Cancer being held from January 31 – February 1, 2025, in Accra, Ghana. As a panelist Mr. Wondu Bekele shared Ethiopia’s experience on the three projects on lung cancer, Multinational Lung Cancer Control Plan/MLCCP/being implemented in Afar, Amhara, Oromia and Addis Ababa and International Early Lung and Cardiac Action Program (IELCAP),the first of its kind in Africa, being implemented in Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital/TASH/ and St. Paul Hospital both supported by BMSF and Multidisciplinary Team/MDT/ supported by AstraZeneca being implemented in 5 universities ,TASH, St.Paul,Jimma,Hawassa and Gondar.MLCCP is being implemented with partnership of Ministry of Health/MoH/,Regional Health Bureaus and implementing partners of which 2 are International NGOs, AMREF and CUAMM and 3 local NGOs ,Mary Joy, Ethiopian Thoracic Society and MWECS implementing as a lead implementer and the rest as implementing Partners/IP/.
