የተከበራችሁ የማቲዎስ ወንዱ – የኢትዮጵያ ካንሰር ሶሳይቲ አባላት ፣የቦርድ አባላት፣ ሠራተኞች ፣አጋር አካላትና በጎ ፍቃደኞች በሶሳይቲያችን ስም እንኳን ለ 2016ዓ.ም አዲስ ዓመት አደረሳችሁ፡፡
ሶሳይቲያችን የካንሰር ህሙማንንና ቤተሰቦቻቸውን ህይወት ለማሻሻል በሚያደርገው ጥረትና እየተስፋፋ የመጣውን ተላላፊ ያልሆኑ ህመሞች ለመከላከል በምናደርገው ጥረት ለምታደርጉት ያላሰለሰ ድጋፍ ያመሰግናችኋል፡፡መጪው ዓዲስ ዓመት ተላላፊ ያልሆኑ ህመሞች እንዲቀንሱ እንዲሁም በህመሞቹ የተያዙ በተለይም በካንሰር የሚሰቃዩ ወገኖች ከህመማቸው እንዲያገግሙ ከዚህ ቀደም ከነበረው የበለጠ የምንሠራበት ይሆናል፡፡
ማቲዎስ ወንዱ የኢትዮጵያ-ካንሰር ሶሳይቲ በማህበረሰባችን አኗኗር ውስጥ ትልቅ ልዩነት ያመጣ በመልካም ምሳሌነት የሚጠቀስ ቤተሰብ አፍርቷል፡፡ 1400 አባላት፣ ከ 500 በላይ በጎ ፍቃደኞችና 30 ሠራተኞችን በመያዝ 8 ፕሮጀክቶችን እየመራ ይገኛል፡፡ በአሁኑ ሰዓትም ከ154 በላይ ለሆኑ የካንሰር ህሙማንና አስታማሚዎቻቸው ድጋፍ እያደረገ ይገኛል፡
ሶሳይቲያችን ከፍተኛ ተዓማኒነትን ያተረፈ መንግስታዊ ያልሆነ ተቋም በመሆኑ ባለፉት አምስት ዓመታት ብቻ አምስት ዓለማቀፍና ሁለት ሀገር አቀፍ ሽልማቶች ተበርክተውለታል፡፡
በመጪው ዓመት ሶሳይቲያችን የተቋቋመበትን 20ኛ ዓመት ሚያዝያ 9 2016 ዓ.ም ያከብራል፡፡ ለዚህም ከወዲሁ የተለያዩ ሁነቶችን በማዘጋጀት ባለፉት ሁለት አስርት ዓመታት የሰራናቸውንና በቀጣይ ዓመታት ያቀድናቸውን ትልልቅ ሥራዎች የምናስተዋውቅ ይሆናል፡፡ለዚህም የሀብት ማሰባሰብና የህዝብ ግንኙነት ሥራዎቻችንን ማጠናከር ጀምረናል፡፡የተደራጀ ሥራ ለመሥራት ወ/ሮ አዜብ ታምሩ የዲጂታል ኮሙኒኬሽን ስራ አስኪያጅ ሆነው ተቋማችንን ተቀላቅለዋል፡፡ በተለይም የራዲዮ፣ የቴሌቪዥንና የማህበራዊ ሚዲያ ፕሮግራሞችን አዘጋጅተው በማሰራጨት ሶሳይቲያችንን የሚያስተዋውቁ ይሆናል፡፡
የግለሰቦችና የተቋማት ማበረታቻ ለሶሳይቲያችን ዕድገት መሰረት ሆኗል፤ ያለነሱ ድጋፍ የካንሰር ህሙማንና ቤተሰቦቻቸውን መርዳት አይቻለንምና ለአጋሮቻችን፣ ለስፖንሰሮቻችን እንዲሁም ለደጋፊዎቻችን ሁሉ ልዩ ምስጋና እናቀርባለን፡፡ ራሳቸውን ሰጥተው ኃይል ጉልበት የሆኑን አባላቶቻችንንና በጎ ፍቃደኞቻችንን እናመሰግናለን፡፡ ስማችን፣ ክብርና ኩራታችን ለሆኑት ሠራተኞቻችን እንዲሁም ለምንደግፋቸው ህሙማንና ተንከባካቢዎቻቸው ትልቅ ምስጋና አለን፡፡
ተላላፊ ያልሆኑ ህመሞችን በአጠቃላይና በካንሰር ህመሞች ላይ በተለይ ብቻችንን ታግለን የምናሸንፋቸው ባለመሆኑ በአዲስ ዓመት በአዲስ መንፈስ በሙያ፣ በገንዘብ እና በቁሳቁስ እንዲሁም በሞራል ግለሰቦችም ሆኑ ተቋማት አብራችሁን እንድትሰሩ ጥሪያችንን እናቀርባለን፡፡

Our achievement to improve the lives of cancer patients and families and joint effort to challenge the growing non communicable diseases in general and cancer in particular were made possible by your generous support and involvement. We look forward to working with you in the new year on our efforts intended to decrease the suffering of NCDs patients and increase their survival rate.
MWECS is proof positive example that one family and group of people truly can make a difference; an organization initiated at the Mathiwos family’s living room, now with more than 1,400 members, 500 volunteers, 30 staffs implementing eight projects. At the present, MWECS supporting more than 154 cancer patients and their care givers. Thanks to you, MWECS became one of the most respected and trusted NGOs of its kind, received five international and two national awards in five years period from 2017 to 2023.
For your information, we will be celebrating our society’s 20th Year Anniversary on coming April 17,2024 and toward this end, we have just started celebrating through different events and we are planning to use this opportunity to familiarize our achievements scored so far and planning to achieve in the future. Toward this end, we are strengthening our resource mobilization and communication directorate in general and communication in particular. We have just organized small but very organized Communication Team with distinct team and individual duties and responsibilities. Wro.Azeb Tamiru, Digital Communication Manager is leading the communication team and she is exploring ways and means on how to start society’s weekly program on radio, TV, YouTube, and other social media platforms.
We are grateful to every single person and organization that showed the courage to step up and give of themselves. We are especially thankful to you our partners, sponsors, and supporters, without whom we would not be able to support cancer patients and their families; to our members and volunteers with their relentless energy and selfless giving; to our staff and representatives who carry our name with dignity and pride; and to our patients, survivors and caregivers for showing us the way.
Non communicable diseases are not a battle that one can fight and win in isolation, and we look forward to the professional, moral, and material support of willing individuals and organizations like yours in order to make a difference!
